In 2005, Kimberly Long was convicted of second degree in the 2003 murder of her boyfriend, Oswaldo “Ozzy” Conde. She was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for Ozzy’s murder.

On October 6, 2003, Kimberly returned home and discovered Ozzy had been bludgeoned to death in their living room. Kimberly told Corona Police officers that she least seen her boyfriend around 11:00 p.m. and they got into an argument. She left the home and went with her friend Jeff Dills. Kimberly told police Jeff Dills dropped her off at home around 2:00 a.m., and called 911 at 2:06 a.m. However, Jeff Dills told police he dropped her off much earlier at 1:20 a.m. This meant Kimberly was at home 49 minutes before the 911 call came in.

Kimberly’s second-degree murder conviction was overturned by the California Supreme Court in November 2020. Her appeal was successful on the basis of ineffective assistance of counsel during her trial.
