In September 2016, two sisters from Minnesota, Anne and Robin Korkki, set out on a trip of a lifetime to Africa. They spent the first two weeks in Kenya, Zanzibar, and Tanzania. But tragedy struck when they arrived at the Maia Luxury Resort in Mahe, an island in the Indian Ocean 900 miles off Africa’s eastern coast.
On September 22nd, 2016, the sisters were found unresponsive in their $2,000 a night private villa. Their sudden and tragic deaths triggered months of high-profile speculation about what could have killed the sisters. Even after autopsies and toxicology reports, some people were left with far more questions than answers.
